BizIT Challenge: Rules, Cases, & Samples
The winning 2008 cases are on the Winning Teams 2008 page.
The BizIT Case Competition challenges mixed major teams to solve a real-world business problem involving research, technology, financial planning, marketing, and good management. Printable versions of the rules or earlier cases are available now; the 2008 case will be published on Mon, February 4, at 12:00 noon. Participants may submit their resumes to BizIT@mccombs.utexas.edu. All resumes will be compiled on a CD and distributed to the judges. Don't miss out on this opportunity!
The BizIT online database will be available for registration on a first-come/first-served basis from Wed, Jan. 25 until Friday, February 8 at 6:00 pm.
In 2003, the case focused on developing a new application for a cutting-edge technology. In 2004, the case focused on using technology to make emergency healthcare safer and more cost effective while still maintaining HIPAA-level information security. In 2005, the case focused on using technology to create a customer loyalty program for mid-sized malls. In 2006, the case involved using technology to get cash to disaster evacuees. In 2007, the case involved motivating business and home users to monitor water usage. Looking at the earlier cases is useful, but they are not exact models for this year's competition.
Note: If your team includes non-McCombs school students, they will not be able to login to business school computers or access business school resources such as the BizIT message board.
