Who are the industry leaders connecting with the MIS BBA program?
IT jobs explode. It's an old joke: Where does an 800 pound gorilla sit? Anywhere he wants. In 2005-06, MIS seniors have morphed from mild-mannered students into 800 pound gorillas in the job market. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that 7 of the top 10 fastest growing jobs between now and 2010 will be in IT. And with baby boomers retiring over the next decade, recruiters are flocking to the McCombs School. Many 2005 MIS graduates got multiple job offers, and the average MIS salary went from $46,300 in 03-04 to $50,603 in 04-05.
But what do MIS majors DO? But freshmen and sophomores trying to choose a major often wonder what they will do if they graduate in MIS. The most common misconception is that they become programmers for life, confined in dank basements like Milton in Office Space.
MIS majors do everything! The truth is far different. With soaring industry demand for graduates who understand business and technology, MIS majors do an amazing range of jobs. From the highly technical to the entrepreneurial to the managerial, MIS majors can pursue the CTO track, the CIO track, or start their own business.
So think outside the cube! People who can manage and understand what technology can do to make companies more competitive are the leaders of tomorrow. Are you one of them? Check out the MIS curriculum and Choose wisely-choose MIS!
