Erik McMillan is co-founder and CEO of Silent Technology LLC, a product development company for students taking school and standardized tests. Erik invented and brought The Silent TimerTM to market after successfully writing a business plan and raising start up capital from angel investors.
Erik recently graduated in 2003 with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Management Information Systems, specializing in databases, information technology, and economic IT implications. He studied under distinguished professors Anitesh Barua and Prabhudev Konana, during his senior year while he was raising capital and building manufacturing relationships in China.
At the age of 17, Erik started his first company, Proace.com. He designed IT systems and web pages for many companies throughout his high school and college career. He also worked for The University of Texas helping teachers build information technology into their course infrastructure. He won the university wide Educational Technology Award for his work on the Richard Wagner opera site, taught by John Weinstock, in 2001.
Erik’s senior MIS 333K project team also won first place designing a system to run an airline database, both offline and online. For this he won the Kimberly-Clark Scholarship and received recognition on The University web site.
Erik currently operates Silent Technology, and is creating contracts with Barnes & Noble, Kaplan, The Princeton Review, and other test preparation companies around the country and the world. Visit www.silenttimer.com for more company information.
