Konana's Energy Enhances Curriculum

Prabhudev Konana

Prabhudev Konana, MIS 373

Although Prabhudev is not yet aged enough to be a sage, you’re sure to receive wisdom when you take his classes. His passion and enthusiasm ensure that students seldom fall sleep during lectures –- or during the rest of the semester! Prabhudev is approachable and friendly. One student commented about Prabhudev that while, "...I often have problems getting e-mail replies from my mom, I can expect a reply from Prabhudev within minutes." Prabhudev may be slowing down, however, as he’s becoming more advanced in age...you may have to wait a few hours when you e-mail him in the middle of the night.

Prabhudev is looking forward to teaching MIS BBA students again in spring 2003. He teaches the e-Business Systems Development class (MIS 373.1) during spring semesters, a.k.a. the "Oracle class." This is a fancy name for an advanced database class with useful insights into emerging Internet topics like XML, wireless, etc. Prabhudev sends a strong note of caution to prospective students: "Take this class only if you really want to be challenged and if you promise never to complain about it!" MISA rated his class as the "most challenging and most looked-forward-to course" in the MIS curriculum.

Visit Prabhudev's personal website and check out his research interests. His work has been cited in many popular business resources, including CNNfn, Business 2.0, and more. Prabhudev is also the assistant director of the Center for Research in Electronic Commerce (CREC), known worldwide for its research on the Internet Economy and e-business value assessment. Prabhudev has received numerous awards for both research and teaching including the NSF CAREER Award (rarely given to B-school faculty), the CBA Foundation Research Excellence Award, as well as the Trammell/CBA Foundation Teaching Excellence award.
