Bill Wade, MIS 373

Bill Wade brings a wide range of work experience to the MIS 373 Advanced Data Communication class. He has worked in insurance, government, and consulting, and currently is a manager in the Dallas office of Experio Solutions. In that role he designs networks, servers, storage, and security systems, and installs operating systems, working with any hardware platform on which software resides.

Bill's diverse background has definitely broadened his view of the world. In government, he worked within the City of Arlington Police Department for eight years. There, he was heavily involved in computer forensics, and in police investigative, 911, jail, and fire systems administration.

His police and insurance experience make Bill more than happy to be in his position at Andersen and lecturing at UT because, "The clients are much nicer."

In Advanced Data Communication, Bill expands on the general component perspective provided in the Data Communication class. Students learn the specifics of each device, and also look at design configuration, setup and implementation. In addition to discussing technology, Bill provides real-world case examples that show how businesses justify the application of the technologies the course covers.

Bill is also a pilot, and occasionally flies himself from Dallas to Austin and back on Monday to teach class. His other hobbies include aerobatic flying, rock climbing and mountaineering, and horseback riding. In other words, he's a high-risk kind of guy who knows how to help businesses reduce risk.
