What work brought you to your job today?

Back in seventh grade, Tiff started teaching herself HTML. Since then, she has continually learned new standards and related web technologies. Although her attention was diverted slightly in college with the pursuit of a PPA degree, her undying passion for front-end web development earned her a seat at the Bazaarvoice family table. Starting out as a Bazaarvoice web developer, she has worked her way up to managing and training her fellow front-end web developers, thanks to her strong organization and communication skills.

What do you do in your current job?

In addition to making front-end code changes, Tiff serves as a go-to person for questions from her peers on development-related best practices, processes (and process changes), advice for other teams on how new features should be implemented, and much, much more. Similarly to other start-ups, Bazaarvoice allows her to wear multiple hats. Sometimes, she gets to wear and juggle hats at the same time.

What do you value from your MIS education?

The UT MIS program not only helped Tiff pursue her passion for technical knowledge, but exposure to MIS alumni also enriched her college experience. The coursework helped her to further develop her analytical skills and B2T (business to technical, and vice-versa) translation abilities. She also developed strong relationships with her MIS professors and still periodically visits them.

What is your advice for current students?

Pursue what you are passionate about. Take electives that are about topics you're unfamiliar with. After graduating, you will unlikely be able focus on devoting your time to education again, so use this time to your advantage!
