What work brought you to your job today?

I began my career in management consulting and systems integration in a Big Five consulting firm. From there I continued with smaller consulting firms upon returning to Austin. In 2001 I started my own consulting firm, ran for a couple of years on that model, then changed to Software as a Service (SaaS) for the last couple of years before selling, for a total of five years of Entrepreneurship. I enrolled and graduated from the Acton MBA in Entrepreneurship, finishing in 2007. I returned to the workforce in late 2007 as a Senior Account Manager for Convio.

What do you do in your current job?

I work as a Senior Account Manager at Convio, a Software as a Service (SAAS) firm that helps non-profits raise funds and perform email marketing and outreach, all online. I manage their largest national accounts and am responsible for maintaining the relationship with our clients.

What do you value from your MIS education?

In the MIS program, I value the intellectual rigor, the appropriateness of the curriculum to current and emerging business market trends, and the marriage of technical know-how with business fundamentals.

What is your advice for current students?

Don't be afraid to take risks. Ask questions and listen more than talk. Put yourself in your customers' shoes. Strive always for a good work/life balance. If you're only in it for the money, you're in it for the wrong reason. Follow your passion.
